Industrial Caulk & Seal: ICS wins two prestigious awards through Hanley Woods Media for 2018

In January Industrial Caulk & Seal was crowned the international winner in two separate categories in Hanley Woods Media’s Concrete Surfaces and Concrete Construction magazines 2018 Polished Concrete Awards.
Hanley Woods recognized the Liberty at Laurel Hill project by Industrial Caulk & Seal as the winner of the Residential Repair and Restoration division. Additionally, Industrial Caulk & Seal was recognized as the winner in the Public Repair and Restoration division for the DINFOS project at Fort Meade. Both projects were cited as exemplary representations of the polished concrete process.

Comprising nearly 100,000 square feet of mixed use residential polished concrete, The Liberty at Laurel Hill project will stand for decades as the benchmark in adaptive reuse and renovation style construction. On the grounds of the former Lorton Reformatory on the outskirts of Washington, DC in Northern VA, the Liberty at Lorton Hill project reclaimed the existing abandoned prison complex and through cutting edge innovation adapted the complex into high end apartments, condominiums, and townhomes. For more information regarding the Liberty at Lorton Hill project please visit http://www.libertycrestapartments.com.

The DINFOS project at Fort Meade was a complete restoration of existing floor finishes at the US Department of Defense’s Defense Information School. The polished concrete on the project included comprehensive floor restoration and a unique sweeping intertwined ribbon in yellow and gold throughout the floor surface. Consolidated on the grounds of Fort Meade in Southern Maryland in the late 90’s, the Defense Information School addresses the unique challenge of servicing the public relations, visual information, and broadcasting needs in military and defense theatres both at home and abroad.

ICS: Industrial Caulk and Seal Completes Pipefitters Local 537 Headquarters in Boston, Mass.

In partnership with Triad Associates Inc., ICS: Industrial Caulk and Seal completed the new headquarters for the Pipefitters Local 537 last week.

Through an extended partnership with Triad Associates, ICS: Industrial Caulk and Seal completed the Local 537 Headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. The Pipefitters building called for an extensive polish on a seeded aggregate concrete floor on four levels. Triad Associates worked extensively with the concrete contractor and hand placed dozens of specialty aggregate throughout the concrete finishing process and relied on ICS: Industrial Caulk and Seal to expose that aggregate through the concrete polishing process. This process produced a terrazzo like finish at a fraction of the cost of traditional terrazzo flooring. With the mottled look of terrazzo and the glow and sheen of polished concrete, the Pipefitters Local 537 floor will stand as the benchmark in design-build polished concrete for decades to come.

“Working with partners on a floor of this scale and scope is always a challenge,” states Victor Botley with Industrial Caulk and Seal, “but great floors are usually the product of extensive communication and dedication to the right results.”

The Pipefitters Local 537 Headquarters is one of dozens of specialty design-build projects coming for ICS: Industrial Caulk and Seal in the months ahead. Polished concrete has continued to capture more and more of the finished floor market as an integral part of overall design, and designers, architects, and engineers are working polished concrete into projects on a global scale. The polished concrete industry continues to lead the cutting edge of commercial flooring through innovation in design supported by tooling, machine, and chemical manufacturers alike. The Pipefitters Local 537 building is no exception.

Industrial Caulk and Seal: ICS Is Honored at the Decorative Concrete Council’s Reception at World of Concrete

Industrial Caulk and Seal: ICS wins two more awards in exceptional polished concrete at World of Concrete

The American Society of Concrete Contractors’ Decorative Concrete Council recognized Industrial Caulk and Seal: ICS at their annual reception in Las Vegas at the World of Concrete convention. Industrial Caulk and Seal: ICS was awarded for exceptional projects in two separate categories including Polishable Overlays Over 5000 sq. ft. and Polished Concrete under 5000 sq. ft. on two separate projects

Coupled with two additional award-winning projects as previously recognized by Hanley Woods Media, these latest awards establish Industrial Caulk and Seal: ICS as one of the most awarded concrete polishing contractors on the worldwide stage.

CT Marshall, executive vice president of Industrial Caulk and Seal Inc. credits the four internationally acclaimed awards to an excellent team of ICS craftsman and true partnerships throughout the concrete polishing industry.

“The team that ICS has assembled over the last 17 or 18 years is truly responsible for the recognition; that team includes not only ICS craftsman but equipment and tooling manufacturers as well as quality suppliers. Not to mention, great general contractors and owners for which the projects were undertaken,” Marshall states. “The Sase Company… from an equipment and diamond tooling standpoint… was instrumental in the success of these four projects specifically and integral to the success of not only these projects but the success of Industrial Caulk and Seal as a whole.”

Guinness. A name that every beer lover knows, opened its first brewery in America since the 1950’s this month located in Halethorpe, Maryland. The building, previously a liquor distillery, left the remains of what became one of the most challenging floor restorations Industrial Caulk and Seal has experienced in their decades of operating. ICS started this project back in February of this year, and at the time, had a difficult time understanding the customer’s expectation. After several conversations and multiple test samples, ICS was off and running. The biggest obstacle for Industrial Caulk and Seal was leaving an “industrial” like floor. As previously mentioned, this floor once serving a liquor distillery morphed the concrete into more of a gravel like surface rather than the typical flat concrete floor that would come to mind. Chris Kilgore (ICS Foreman) was able to provide that “industrial” and “rustic” look using a variation of steps and tooling. The floor being one of the roughest ICS has ever seen resembled the surface of the moon; SASE orange series long life diamonds were real life saver when it came to providing the customer their desired look. Couple that with a number of repairs and what was left was the floor Guinness sought after from conception. At approximately 32,000 square feet of polished concrete, Guinness now has a floor that is inviting to the customer and simple to maintain with ICS Maintenance Program. ICS is proud and excited to show off this floor to any/all future customers. Cheers, it’s a lovely day for a Guinness.
